If the beauty in this world is structured,
what of it can I recognize, decipher
or integrate?
Context scattered haphazardly-
a wall of abstraction I can't breach
to forge a cogent meaning.

Drawn to the spurned,
dismal defects of the demiurge;
tangible gaps in its gaze-
the cast-offs and mistakes
that might help to explain
or justify my own malformed design.
I've collected, assessed and categorized
all that which bears my reflection;
the sordid adornments abounding.

Specimens line the halls
behind leaded glass
by the cabinetful.
I've saved them all:
eclectic, neglected rejects
of the natural world.

My personal funhouse,
dim-lit and decked out
in your disparate oddities
cast to the side-
your offal and leavings
from floor to ceiling.
That which you've expelled and renounced
now comforting surrounds-
curated carefully.

With manic glee, the first of many visitors
beat down the doors.

I couldn't be more well-received
on this unexpected opening.
Two bracelets, a limousine,
and a grand parade procession just for me.

Delivered from obscurity
to fanfare, flashes, and this luxurious tufted suite.
My doting hostess, always adorned
with copious notebooks and clipboards,
is ever-present in my thoughts-
with my stomach (like my jacket) tied in knots.
